Installation Instructions
Strathcona uses an Eclipse update site for its installation. This allows you to keep your client up to date with the latest Strathcona changes with only a few clicks. This is the easiest way to distribute Strathcona as it is a research tool and is undergoing constant change.
-
To install Strathcona first start Eclipse. Then choose the update site functionality by going to Help->Software Updates->Find and Install. This words are slightly different in Eclipse 3.1 but the process is the same.
- Select “Search for New Features to Install”.
-
You now want to create a new Remote Site. Click on the “New Remote Site” button and enter Strathcona for the name and
http://strathcona.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/updatein the url.
-
Click the plus sign beside the new strathcona entry and select the Strathcona Source Recommendation Tool. If an error message appears at the top of the screen asking for draw2d then you will also need to install GEF. To do this select the plus beside the Eclipse.org update site and choose the latest version of GEF. This should remove the draw2d error.
- Next you will need to accept some license terms (all CPL) as well as approve the installation of the packages. When prompted to restart the workspace choose yes. Strathcona should now be installed.
